Lois Adams and Lio Cheung created six artworks to accompany Nate Morgan Locke’s (mythologist) talk, “Invisible String: In the Books We Love and the Lives We Live.”
This formed part of an outreach event organised by Bethesda Evangelical Church in Hay-on-Wye (www.bethesdahay.org) during the Hay Festival in May 2026.
We also created an interactive element by hiding the titles and quotes beside each artwork, encouraging visitors to guess both the book and the connecting theme represented in each illustration.
Each artwork was created in a different style to reflect the mood and genre of the individual books, while the recurring theme of threads weaves throughout every piece.
The artwork is available to be borrow. We highly recommend Nate Morgan Locke - visit www.youtube.com/@ReformedMythologist
