Community Mural Project Summary – Heath Evangelical Church (June 2026)

The Community Mural Project brought together Heath Evangelical Church and the local community through a month of creative engagement. Around 300 ideas were collected from local primary schools, church groups, café visitors and members of the public, directly informing the final mural design.

Throughout the project, hundreds of people contributed to painting the mural, including school children, families, church members, neighbours, café regulars and passers-by. The open painting sessions created opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to work together, many of whom were visiting the church for the first time.

The project strengthened relationships with local schools, encouraged community participation and helped establish the church as a welcoming and accessible space. While a community mural is not a silver bullet, I believe God used this project to bring people together, strengthen relationships and create new opportunities for the church to engage with its local community. The mural demonstrated that Heath values the voices and creativity of its neighbours and seeks to be a place of welcome, hospitality and hope.
